2015 Aussie Millions: Main Event close to Conclusion, Rahul Byrraju finishes in money

In 2013 Mervin Chan kissed glory in Malaysia – after winning the Aussie Millions Main Event. Till this year we can still notice the after affects of Chan’s victory as Malaysia’s Michael Soyza won $1,150 Accumulator Event. From a total of 605 entrants who participated in this event, Soyza rose to chip lead on the final table and didnt let his position slip off.

Do you remember that the Canadian pro Jonas Mackoff finished fifth in the Aussie Millions 8-Game Event?  he was very close to his first major live championship. However, Mackoff hardwork paid off as defeated the super-tough field of 37 runners in $2,500 H.O.R.S.E. Event. Mackoff collects $31,200 for his victory and the beautiful Aussie Millions gold ring.

Now comes the turn of host country Australia. At the start of the $25,000 Challenge a strapping young Aussie by the name of Alex Trevallion was unknown to all. With his impressive debut victory, Trevallion is now an Aussie Millions gold ring winner. He defeated Tobias Reinkemeier in heads-up deal to collected $645,150 in prize money. One of the great blokes of the Australian poker community, Sydney beer brewer Jai Kemp, has emerged triumphant in the $1,650 No Limit Holdem Bounty Event. He reached the final along with 32 players after navigating past a couple of WSOP bracelet winners to finish in the top two on his Shootout table. A king on the flop and a king on the turn would crown Kemp king of the Aussie Millions Bounty Event!

Next comes the Terminator Event in which players have to to take all your opponent’s chips, and each elimination means an extra $500 in their pocket. Angelina Rich listed her name in the handful of female Aussie Millions gold ring winners. Ring, the chip leader, dominated in heads up game with John Thomson to winning the $1,150 NLHE Terminator at the 2015 Aussie Millions. The $1,150 Tournament of Champions that offered free entry to any past Aussie Millions Main Event winner saw Nam Le sealing his name for the tournament. and after two days of play, he bested a field of 115 – including three past champs – to take the crown.

The 14th event on the Aussie Millions schedule saw Norway’s Mikal Blomlie claim his first championship ring after a relatively quick final table that lasted just short of four hours. Blomie managed to defeat an 89 player field over two days to take down the title of $1,150 NLHE/PLO Rotation Event. After a six-hour final day, Melbourne local Davor Derek claimed victory at $1,150 No Limit Holdem Mix-Max Event. Derek outlasted a field of 188 runners over two days, and defeated the Gold Coast’s Craig Duffy to capture the title. This is Derek’s first major title and eclipses his previous best score of $17,912 when he finished sixth in last year’s Six-Max Shot Clock Event at the Aussie Millions.

Main Event: $10,600 NL Holdem

The entire 2015 Aussie Millions Main Event field of entrants sat under the one roof for the first time on January 28. This field included 338 survivors of the opening three flights who are fighting battle against each other to continue their journey towards the sky. After a shortened five-level day, only 136 players joined by six late registrations. From the total of 648 entrants the top 72 players will finish in the money and a top prize of $1,600,000. Indian poker pro Rahul Byrraju finished at 67th place and collected AUD 15000 in prize money. The american poker pro, Phil Ivey was alive in the contest with 390,000 chips and his fellow country man Brian Rast led with 1,550,000 chips by the time this news was published.
