Biography

mark-newhouseBorn & brought up in Chapel Hill, Mark Newhouse attended his high school there & did his graduation from Appalachian State University in North Carolina. He started playing poker in his early 20s & used to play small-stakes poker games at home with his friends. Soon, he switched to the online poker and started playing high-stakes limit games. After a year and a half of college, Newhouse decided to quit school so as to become a professional poker player.

The 28 year poker pro currently resides at Los Angeles where he devotes most of his playing time in the casinos of California and Las Vegas. He is a great admirer of Joe Cassidy & loves to play high limit cash games that are played at the Commerce Casino. He can often be seen playing roller-coaster level poker games in the strip casinos of Las Vegas.

Though Mark started poker at a very early age but he initiated tournament play in 2006 & since then, he has been playing in the WSOP Main Event every year. In the initial years, Mark used to chase the big pots and travel from coast to coast in the hope for a big win & wasted all his earnings. But soon he realized that such temptation & mistakes can ruin his promising poker career.

The poker grinder went through several ups & downs in his poker career & finally decided to follow a disciplined lifestyle to cope with such circumstances of life. Though he holds a few solid tournament scores including a major title— $9,700 Borgata Poker Open (WPT 2006) where he won $1,519,020; Newhouse is definitely going to be a polarizing character at the final table of 2014 WSOP November Nine Main Event.

Apart from this, he also earned considerable success at various online poker rooms including a win at PokerStars Sunday Millions event (2009) where he won $245,897. Mark Newhouse has won more than $2 million in live games. He has cashed in 8 World Series of Poker events and 1 WSOP Circuit event. But he has had a tough 2014 WSOP entering 17 events and not cashing any except the Main Event.

Mark Newhouse has stayed out of news and taken a longish break to relax  until the 2014  November Main Event final table. The poker pro admits that he is definitely going to give his best & will be playing with a good attitude and calm mental state. He has set a standard in poker that none might be able to beat. With back to back WSOP ME Final tables, he has repeated Dan Harrington’s similar feat set in 2003 and 2004. But the fields that Dan Harrington beat were smaller(839 and 2,576) while Newhouse has come on the final nine outclassing 6,352 and 6,693 players.
