APPT 8 Manila: Rattonsey, Kanjani take India into final day

Sameer Rattonsey and Rajeev Kanjani stayed in contention after Day 2 of the APPT 8 Manila Main Event here today with 480,000 and 237,000 chips respectively even as Michael Guzzardi garnered 1,512,000 chips to jump into chip lead. Kanjani and Sameer Rattonsey are the two Indians in attendance at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour(APPT) Manila leg who started Day 2 at the Metro Card Club in Manila.

While Rattonsey came out as a small stack,it was Kanjani who began the day in the top ten chip stacks. Rattonsey started Day 2 with 32,900 but kept chipping up to remain the 4th biggest stack from the final 10 survivors. Kanjani who had started with 116,900 chips saw through the early eliminations of the day and now both look to make the final table.

The PHP 50K buyin event saw two flights of Day 1 with 107 runners for Day 1a and 153 for Day 1b taking the total to 270 entrants. While 35 survivors remained from Day 1a, another 60 made it from Day 1b thus 95 runners started Day 2. A prize pool of PHP 11,349,00 was created and 28 top finishers would finish in the money. The lions share of PHP 3,472,000 is reserved for the winner.

While Guzzardi remains the man in command with a mammoth lead over the others there are others like Thank Ha Duong apart from the two Indians who are looking for a piece of poker glory.  Maria Bernadette Lina is the only woman standing in the field and will look to rule the male dominated. Day 3 will start in a couple of hours and will play down to a champion. Apart from the big cash prize, the winner will also win an Asia Championship of Poker entry ticket.
