GPI Rankings: Zinno Takes Over GPI World Rankings

GPI rankingThe reigning WPT Player of the Year Anthony Zinno made the headlines with his recent performances at 2015 WSOP. Today Zinno stand at the top of GPI World Rankings becoming the 10th player in the history of GPI to take over the top spot.

On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leaderboard, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.

After being honored for GPI WPT PoY, nothing stopped Zinno to head his way to Europe for playing EPT Grand Final Festival and WPT Amsterdam. Thereafter, he continued his WSOP journey with a pair of final table performances in the beginning of the month of June and later ended the month with two other final table finishes, including a 7th place finish in the $111,111 One Drop High Roller tournament.

Few days more and Zinno won his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet in the $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller event, defeating Pakinai Lisawad (GPI#1163) in the heads-up play. These recent achievements by Zinno have made him a lead in both the leaderboards – GPI World Rankings and GPI WSOP PoY. This season the points total of Zinno- 3,896.39 is the lowest total any player has had to lead the World Rankings. This week Dan Smith (GPI#2, -1) was unable to keep his status atop the rankings as his past successes – Aria Super High Roller victory and 20th place finish at 2014 WSOP Main Event – entered the third aging period.
