Caesars Buys Rights to WSOP Mobile Poker App

In a press release last week Caesars Interactive Entertainment, which is a subsidiary of world’s largest gaming company stated that it has successfully attained the rights and ownership of World Series of Poker (WSOP) mobile poker application. The poker application which was developed by a team of 19 Canadian developers is a huge hit amongst poker lovers. After its launch in year 2012, it has been downloaded 6 million times. This acquisition will help Caesars to expand its presence in ‘free-to-play Mobile and Social gaming world’. This mobile venture will be looked after by Caesar’s Playtika Division. WSOP mobile poker can be accessed by any poker player through Facebook, Android, Amazon Kindle and IOS devices.

WSOP events have started in the last week of the May and will be running throughout June till mid of next month. The main event has always been the highlight of the WSOP Series as the winner receives huge prize money, which sometimes crosses 10 million mark. This year the main event which has $10,000 buy-in is expecting 7,000 entries taking the prize pool to a huge 20 million mark.

Caesars has been trying to rope in lawmakers to legalize online poker but with so many state senators against it, it won’t seem to get legalized soon. US federal has banned online poker two years ago when it shut down PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker with numerous wrong doing cases against them. With the current government and their stand on online poker it seems that poker players in US can enjoy only free version of poker on social gaming websites.
