Daniel Negreanu has managed to hold on to his number one position in World Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the year (POY) race for one more week. After eventful past seven days, where other players earned a lot of points because of their money finishes or bracelet winning performances, none has managed to replace Negreanu from the top spot. The major chunk of points earned by this poker pro came when he won WSOP Asia Pacific Main Event. In the ongoing WSOP Series, Negreanu has failed to win a single event yet but his money finishes in three events has helped him to be in the lead of POY list.

Chasing Negreanu at number second position is Tom Schneider, who won his second WSOP bracelet in the ongoing series on Tuesday. Schneider, who was not in the top ten last week made the biggest leap and grabbed second place. His two victories at H.O.R.S.E events and four money finishes earned him huge popularity as well as points. People have started speculating that he can win almost any event he will enter in 2013 WSOP this year. When asked about his opinion on Player of the Year title, he replied confidently that if it could have been just WSOP Las Vegas, then he would have been the title holder but as there is WSOP Europe coming up in the month of October, it can be anyone’s game. He made it clear that he has no plans to travel to Europe to participate in WSOP Europe.

Rounding up the top three places is Dan Kelly. Kelly who has not won a single bracelet this year is enjoying his tremendous run in money finishes. He is the only player in the top ten without a bracelet winning performance this year. But he already managed to have eight money finishes in the WSOP events. It’s a huge achievement in itself and Kelly knows it too.

He explained his fantastic run as the combination of his skills and a little bit of luck. He admitted that this year has been great so far for him. He has won two online poker tournaments back to back and then this unbelievable streak of money finishes at 2013 WSOP.
