The seven year old poker room of Cake Poker has re-branded itself as Win Cake in a move to establish itself as an online gambling destination and not merely as a poker room. Upon visiting the Win Cake site, it does appear that the main thrust is still on poker but links to other casino games are an addition. The website www.cakepoker.eu also now redirects to www.wincake.com.
The main page of Win Cake asks players to “Get a piece of the action,” adding, “Now serving poker, casino, jackpot, & casino games.” Under that, links to poker and other casino games are also given while earlier it was only poker. Win Cake will not accept US players as Cake Poker also previously had earlier shifted its American poker players to Juicy stakes Poker.
Poker pandits are skeptical in whether this move is a result to counter Full Tilt’s announcement a fortnight back to venture into other casino games besides poker. It may be recalled that FTP had last month announced that it will be launching other casino games and also re-branding itself. This may be Cake Poker’s attempt to take on the Full Tilt power by introducing their own casino games and changing their name to Win Cake.
A part of the Revolution Gaming Network, Cake Poker was launched in the poker boom of 2006. Revolution has since then managed to acquire and also lose out on several poker rooms and casino sites. It has just about managed to stay afloat through Black Friday and other poker problems. It now ranks 15th as a poker network in terms of poker traffic.
