Record turnout for EPT 10 Barcelona, Gerard Pique headlines Day 2

Gerard PiqueAs Day 2 of the European Poker Tour(EPT) Season 10 Barcelona continued, players had the option to register late thus giving a record turnout of 1,234 players. EPT 10 Barcelona was always a popular destination but this beat all records as Day 1a and 1b flights combined along with new entrants to have the largest ever poker entries in EPT Barcelona history.

Footballer Gerard Pique was the headliner of the day as all attention was on the Spaniard as he showed his skills on the poker felt. He started Day 2 with 23,100 chips; much below chip average but started building a healthy stack before being stuck into PokerStars qualifier Carlos Mora Alvarez. Others who exit during the day included EPT 10 Barcelona Super High Rollers Winner Vitaly Lunkin, Jason Mercier, Jonathan Duhamel and Dan Smith.

Notable poker players still in the competition include Victor Ramdin, Marvin Rettenmaier and Pablo Alexander Tavitian. Tavitian who is the winner of the Latin American Poker Tour Chile Main Event earlier this year remains in chip lead with 465,000 chips. The chip average stands at 152,479 and play reached 14 Levels.When Day 3 starts in a couple of hours, 230 players will return to the tables and will fight for the €5,984,900 prize pool where only 183 will finish in the money. The eventual winner will be richer by a massive €1,067,000.
