Tom Middleton wins EPT Barcelona

Tom MiddletonA great week of poker action winded up at Casino Barcelona as Tom Middleton won the Main Event of EPT Barcelona and Thomas Muhlocker took the High Roller Event here yesterday. Middleton had started the final table in chip lead and kept up with it emerging the champion to win €942,000, the trophy, and a SLYDE watch for the victory. His supremacy may be headlines by the fact that he was leading everyday since Day 3.

Middleton and Kimmo Kurko, who finished second stuck a deal prior to heads up battle to decide the winner. Both were quite close in chip strength thus they decided to split €942,000 and the runner up €750,000 instead of the original prize money of €1,067,000 and the runner up €625,000. It was a fantastic mix of European countries on the final table as all eight players were from different parts of the continent. Kreston Nielson was third and got €440,500 for his effort.

In the €10,000 High Rollers Event it was Thomas Muhlocker who took the top honors defeating Daniel Negreanu. Muhlocker overcame a stacked final table to win the trophy and €390,700. The very experienced and challenging final table also featured 2010 WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel, 2013 November Niner David Benefield and GPI Top 10 player Ole Schemion. And of course, Daniel ‘kidpoker’ Negreanu with his 5 WSOP bracelets was the toughest one to beat but young Muhlocker managed it with the utmost grace.
