Philipp Gruissem wins second straight WPT Alpha8 Title

alpha8Philipp Gruissem made it a double World Poker Tour Alpha8 Title for himself when he won the WPT Alpha8 St.Kitts $100,000 buy-in event here yesterday. The German poker pro has now won two of the three WPT Alpha8 High Roller titles this year. Played out at the Royal Beach Casino, Gruissem outlasted a total of 23 players to win $1,084,600, his second seven figure pay check in three weeks. He previously won the WPT Alpha8 event in London for $1,379,800 on October 29th, 2013.

Gruissem defeated Tom McDonald in a short heads up battle which won the latter with $679,000. Mike McDonald ended in third place though he had entered three-way competition in chip lead. Mike’s pocket sixes ran into Gruissem’s pocket Kings and he took a huge hit and soon hit the rail to cash $434,560 for his third place effort. The top five players finished in the money from the eight handed final table.

WPT Alpha8 action now moves to South Africa in February.
