The Asian Poker Tour – RWM Poker Finale 2014 kicked off in style at Resort World, Manila on Wednesday, 3rd December drawing 302 runners in the first event RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD. Hiue Le from Vietnam outplayed the huge field to grab the opening event title with a whopping PHP 499,500 prize. The 2nd event, Pot Limit Omaha Hi was taken down by New Zealand’s Slade Fisher for PHP 301,000. Sam Razavi triumphed the charity event winning the 1st place prize of PHP 96,000.
2014 APT Finale Day 1
After the official opening of 8 day poker fiesta by APT Chief Executive Officer Jeff Mann and Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas, 139 players joined in the Flight A of PHP 11,000 RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD while the Flight B added 163 contestants more in the poker battle. The prize pool surpassed the guaranteed 2 million to around 3 million. APT Philippines 2014 Main Event champion Feng Zhao, APT Asian Series Manila 2014 champion Mike Takayama and two-time APT POY winner Sam Razavi were the big guns firing at the RWM felt. After the full day action, only 78 players survived in the battle to win PHP 723,500 in 1st place.
2014 APT Finale Day 2
Arcie Mariano of Philippines returned on Day 2 as the chip leader in RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD event with 201,900 chips. Byung II Park of Korea was chasing closely with 201,400 chips. However, the champion Hieucontinued his strategic game to reach the final table where a deal was made in the wee hours of Friday between the last 3 remaining players. As a result, Benjamin Lim (2nd) of Philippines and Norbert Koh (3rd) of Singapore both took home PHP 457,650 which is slightly less than what Hieu bagged in the 1st place.
Day 2 of the tournament hosted an exclusive event for Omaha lovers. Running alongside the 1st event, Pot Limit Omaha Hi event drew a sizeable pool of PLO pros with a buy-in of PHP 16,500. Slade Fisher of New Zealand continued his aggressive run throughout the game and ultimately winning the title for PHP 301,000.
Meanwhile, the Ante Up for Charity event was being played in which one-third of the prize pool or PHP 120,000 was to be donated to The Philippine Christian Foundation, an organization which works for the betterment of impoverished Filipino communities. England’s Sam Razavi outplayed the field to win PHP 96,000 in the first place.
PHP 108,000 High Roller event saw 35 players coming in to win big out of the prize pool nearing PHP 3.3 million. Only 8 players survived after 11 levels of play. Douglas Olsson (207,000) of Sweden will return as the chip leader on Day 3 closely followed by John Tech (196,500) of Philippines.
