2014 Aussie Millions: Mustapha Kanit creates history

mustaphakanitItalian poker player Mustapha Kanit created Aussie Millions history when he won two gold rings within 3 days winning Event 1 and Event 4 at the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne. Riding high on his 4th place finish in the 2014 PCA High Rollers Event, Kanit first won the opening event and cashing $196,000 and then winning the $1,100 NLHE Six Max Event for $104,000.

While Kanit had defeated a huge field of 1302 poker players in the opening event to claim his first Aussie Millions Gold Ring, he overcame a tough final table in the Six Max Event 4 to grab the top prize. Kanit was second in chip lead behind Daniel Neilson at a FT that also included 2013 Aussie Millions $2,500 Six Max Event champ Grayson Ramage and tournament reg Tam Truong. Early action saw two players tumble with Tanya Phu(6th) and Paul Altis(5th) going iff involving Kanit in a big pot resulting in him getting lead.

Entering 4-way action in lead, Kanit felt considerable competition from Truong who stole the lead several times. Truong eliminated Ramage in 4th place and then Kanit built his stack back with the exit of Neilson. Heads up action between the two saw Truong starting with 2,760,000 chips while Kanit held 2,180,000 chips. But Kanit started chipping away at Truong and slowly the latter was at a huge disadvanatge. He finally got eliminated when he went all in on the turn of a hand where he held h1dk while Kanit called with cqc10. Kanit hit his straight on the board and Truong had to be satisfied with second best.
