Dan Harrington did it in 2003 and 2004. And a decade later Mark Newhouse has repeated that astounding feat. With no offence to the accomplishment that Harrington achieved, it can easily be argued that Newhouse’s feat is much bigger. He has topped a solid 6,683 playing field and played past huge poker talent to give his feat much bigger stature. While the buzz on this Final Table will remain around Newhouse, it is Dutch Jorryt Van Hoof who leads with more than 35 M Chips.
Mark Newhouse finished 9th in the 2013 WSOP Main Event topping another 6000 plus field. This years was a record field of 6,683 thus both of Mark’s final tables have seen him outlast more than 6000 players. Dan Harrington outplayed much smaller fields of 839 and 2,239 players in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Thus Newhouse has for sure beaten all the odds and has set a standard in poker which is not going to be outclassed soon.
Back to the final table, it is a multi country talent on the November Nine feature of 2014. There is Van Hoof(Netherlands) in lead, followed by Felix Stephenson(Norway), 4 Americans in Newhouse, Dan Sindlear, William Pappaconstantinou and William Tonking, overnight chip leader Martin Jacobsen(Sweden) and Bruno Politano(Brazil). Sadly, Luis Velador was the final table bubble while he looked comfortable enough to make the November Nine.
