Breaking News: Casino Carnival now managed by Pride Group?:  if the grapevine is to be believed then Casino Carnival has been taken over by the Pride Group which also owns Casino Pride in the Goa waters. It is learnt that the management takeover has happened even though there is still no clarity on the much debated license transfer is there.

While the Goa CM Manohar Parrikar had announced last week that the Assembly was in the process of notifying new casinos rules on transfer of licenses, it was met with much wrath from the opposition. These new rules as well as Gaming Commission are expected to be in place on Feb 28th. The VM Salgaocar Group owned Casino Carnival was seeking this license transfer so the deal with Pride Group, owners of the Casino Pride could get through. When OPN tried to contact the Goa offices of both the casinos, no one was willing to comment. We also tried to contact the VM Salgaocar head office in Goa, but the GM, Hospitality who apparently is the one to comment on this deal was on a leave for a week.

Casino Carnival along with Casino Pride, Casino Deltin Royale and Casino Deltin Jaqk form the quartet of offshore casinos in Goa. The last two are owned by the Deltin Group and if the deal(between Carnival and Pride) has gone through then the Goa waters will have only two stake holders. It is also learnt that the BJP government in Goa has rejected a proposal from the Sahara Group whose Casino vessel Qing is docked and they were seeking transfer of the license of now nonoperational Casino Maharaja

OPN also attempted to get in touch with Manohar Parrikar to get a full of the government’s final take on the transfer of casino licenses. But the CM was not available; thus for now it seems there is a stalemate on this.

PokerStars receives online poker license in Bulgaria: PokerStars came one step closer to launching their online poker services in Bulgaria when Bulgarian State Gambling Commission (SGC) granted the poker room an online gaming license on Wednesday. This comes on the heels of the SGC approving eCOGRA as the country’s iGaming Testing Agency. This license will allow Pokerstars to operate an online poker room in EU’s emerging market.  Earlier in 2013, Pokerstars was included in Bulgaria’s online gaming blacklist but PokerStars officials believe that the ‘removal’ is now weeks away which will follow the ‘activation’ of the poker site in the country.

PokerStars already holds licenses to operate in France, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Estonia, Malta and the Isle of Man and Bulgaria will go about strengthening the world’s largest poker room’s stake in Europe.
