Global Poker Index: Mukul Pahuja ‘in’ and Daniel Negreanu ‘out’ of Top 10

Global Poker Index (GPI) turns exciting this week with Mukul Pahuja ranking at #7 climbing 13 spots to enter GPI top 10 owing to his recent successes on the World Poker Tour(WPT SHRPS). The big victory in the High Roller event at EPT Sanremo gained Ole Schemion #1 rank in GPI this week moving two spots up. The biggest surprise this week was Daniel Negreanu who not only lost his #1 GPI Ranking, but has in fact fallen down 11 spots to be ranked at #12.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

At #2, Vanessa Selbst is the only player this week who retains her rank in the GPI  Top 10 Rankings in what is the wildest moving weeks ever atop the GPI 300.This is good news for Marvin Rettenmaier, Jason Mercier and Mike McDonald who all moved 1 spot up each to be ranked at #3, #4 and #5 respectively. Another new entrant this week is American Paul Volpe at #9 moving 3 spots.

Moving 112 spots this week is Barry Hutter, who is now at his career best at #131, having finished 8^th at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. Some other big players who moved up this week are Jorma Nuutinen at #170 moving 127 places and “The Takeover” Nick Schulman who climbed 90 places to be at #136.

Former EPT Sanremo Champion Ludovic Lacay falls down 62 spaces ranking at #230, his lowest point on GPI300 this 2014 poker season. Also falling are Canadians, Timothy Adams at #249 and Sam Green at #264. They fell by 93 and 53 spots respectively.
