Global Poker Index: Ole Schemion at the top with 4,017.13 points

oleschemiongpiOle Schemion remains at the top for a second week on the Global Poker Index (GPI) Rankings with an impressive total points of 4,017.13 after his 7th place finish in the EPT Grand Final Super High Roller event. This is only the second time a player has hit the 4k point mark on the GPI300.Vanessa Selbst retains her #2 spot again this week even after being unable to add points to her totals. Daniel Negreanu falls 2 more spots this week ranking at #14.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

Scott Seiver jumped 28 points and landed at #3 spot owing to his consecutive successes at the WPT World Championship in Atlantic City by finishing 21st and winning the side event at EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo. A first time entrant in GPI Top 10 is WPT World Championship runner-up Byron Kaverman who moved 13 points to land at #7. Dropping out from Top 10 are Shannon Shorr and MukulPahuja, dropping 3 and 8 points respectively. Shorr is #13 and Pahuja is #15.

The biggest move this week was Ryan D’Angelo, who climbed 162 spots to be ranked at #125 due to his performances during Season XII of the WPT – which included three cashes and two Top 10 finishes. WPT champion Roberto Romanello climbed 82 spots to land at #193 and 2013 WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood climbed 65 spots to be at #144.

UK pro Tom Alner takes the biggest hit this week falling 77 spaces ranking at #260. After spending most of 2014 inside the Top 100, Dutch star Paul Berende (GPI#126, -41) drops 41 spaces to #126. NaoyaKihara, another WSOP bracelet winner, falls 50 points and is at #234.
