2014 WSOP: Event 14-16, Davidi Kitai wins Bracelet, American streak is broken

WSOP Event 19 Gold Bracelet Winner Davidi KitaiIt took 14 events at the 2014 WSOP and a determined Belgian to break the gold streak by Americans. Davidi Kitai took down Event #15, $3,000 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em to win his third WSOP Bracelet and also join the elite club of non-American poker pros to have 3 WSOP Bracelets to their name. 

Kitai’s victory in Event 15 was worth $508,640 in prize money taking his over all live earnings past $3 Million. He prevailed in the 4 day tournament over more than 800 entrants generating a $2,211,300 prize pool. The top 90 finishers were ITM and notables included Nenad Medic (82nd), Jesse Sylvia (63rd), Matt Jarvis (37th), Brandon Cantu (32nd), OIivier Busquet (20th), Jackie Glazier (19th), and Phil Hellmuth.

Event 14:

In the other events we tracked at the WSOP 2014, Americans continued to strike gold as Event 14 was won by Nicholas Kost. The $1500 Limit Omaha Hi-Low was captured by Kost after prevailing over more than 1030 entrants. Calen Mc Neil was the defending champion in this event and he headlined the final table and looked on course for a second bracelet ; only to run into Kost. Kost not only had Mc Neil to deal with but also former WSOP Bracelet winner Greg Raymer and Jim Bucci. The prize pool came in at $1,398,600 with the top 117 players collecting a payday. Some of the notables who made the money included Allen Cunningham (97th), Robert Mizrachi (43rd), Mickey Appleman (36th), Dan Heimiller (17th), and Maria Ho (13th).

Event 16

Todd Bui

who is known to play a select few poker tournaments in an year won the $1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw event to win his first major tournament and his first gold bracelet. This event drew 348 players, generating a $469,800 prize pool. The top 36 finishers cashed in the event, including Dan Kelly (35th), Layne Flack (30th), Bill Chen (23rd), Mike Leah (11th), and Kevin Iacofano, who bubbled what would’ve been his second final table of the series in seventh place.

Almost There

Several other WSOP events are drawing closer to a winner. Event #17, $1000 Seniors NLHE is down to a final table with Dan Heimeller with a huge stack of 4,140,000 chips. It is an all American 9 staring at the Seniors bracelet with David Smith and David Tran also vying for the top honours.

The final table of Event #18, $10,000 Seven Card Razz Championship is also underway. As we go to press 4 players are playing out for the bracelet and top prize of $294,2792. Brandon Shack Harris who won Event 3 #1k PLO in the first week of the 2014 WSOP  is headlining this table and has competition in George Danzer.

Event #19, The $1500 NLHE

saw a huge field of 2086 players and more than 60 remain. In Event 20, $3K NLHE Shootout, the final 2 tables remain with players dwindling at a steady pace. Noah Bronstein and Phil Galfond lead the charge in Day 2 of this event.
