This week we bring to you an exciting world record breaking attempt and its success story from PokerStars. On Jun 16, PokerStars the world’s largest poker site and the home of tournament poker, attempted to break its own Guinness World Record of the most players to ever compete in a single online tournament. This gave a chance to multitude of players to join the tournament to get their names in the Guinness World Record and win from the guaranteed prize pool. On June 16, 2013, PokerStars broke its previous record for the most players to ever compete in a single online tournament when 225,000 players participated in a $1 tournament on Sunday afternoon. It broke its previous record of 200,000 players, set in 2011, for the biggest ever online tournament in poker history.

The PokerStars Guinness World Record tournament had a buy-in for $1 with a prize pool of $300,000. With 225,000 entrants, the buy-ins contributed $225,000 of the $300,000 guaranteed prize pool, with PokerStars putting up the rest of the money which is $75,000.

Russian player ‘Mr.SlavaPro’ ultimately took down the tittle turning his single buck into $25,000. ‘johnnykara75’ earned a payout of $15,000 by coming at second place and ‘1star09’ added $10,000 in his account by coming in third place. The next five spots winners were richer by $7,500, $5,000, $3,500, $2,500, $2,000 and $1,500 respectively.
