2015 Pokerstars Carribbean Adventure: Tournament Round-up

pca-2014-os-header_optWith the completion of 2015 Pokerstars Carribbean Adventure (PCA), here comes the rundown of main events, high-roller & super high-roller events, and side events that took place between January 6 to 14 at the grand Atlantis in The Bahamas.The 2015 PCA attracted more than 1000 players who contested for $10,000 + $300 Main Event that ran from January 8-14, and created a a prize pool of more than $10 million. This tournament saw top poker players from across the globe and hundreds of PokerStars qualifiers who come together to battle for a whale of prize money.

On Day 1A of $10,300 Main Event PCA, British heads-up cash-game specialist Alex Millar stayed far ahead of other players that nobody was able to beat with him even after the eight levels of play. He finished the play with 169,100, a strong lead over Dani “Ansky” Stern who holded the second-place stack of 145,200. Millar and Stern led 139 survivors out of 220 registered players. The Day 1A of 2015 PCA resumed on Jan 9 with Day 1B of the Main Event. A total of 587 players part and after eight levels of play, 368 of them joined the 139 Day 1A survivors to play on Day 2. Leading the way is Dietrich Fast with 208,200. Day 2 started with over 500 players, after following five 90-minute levels, Walter Fisher emerged as the leader when he bagged 497,000 in chips. Fisher holds a slight lead over Hugh Drummond (456,800) and Juan Martin Pastor (446,000).

175 players returned to the 2015 PCA Main Event on Day 3, and Juan Etcheverry lead the day with 1,704,000 chips. 57 players navigated their way to Day 4 of the Main Event, and five levels later, Brazilian player Eugenio Mattar earned the heaviest bag, containing 2.673 million. Day 5 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure commenced with the plan to play down from 24 to six players, and Chance Kornuth from Florida emerged as the leader after nearly 12 hours of play with 7.86 million. The final day of PCA was sealed in six hours and American pro Kevin Schulz emerged as the winner of this prestigious title winning the mega prize of $1,491,580, the trophy, a SLYDE watch, and a prominent place in pokers history books.

Ilkin Garibli won 2015 PCA $25,000 High Roller Event. After a grueling three days of competition among poker’s elite, Garibli rise high to the top and earned the trophy, a SLYDE Steel and Rose Gold watch worth €12,890. and $1,105,040 in first-place prize money. Only two months after winning the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker Super High Roller, Steve O’Dwyer won another prestigious title of 2015 PCA Super High Roller. The event took place from January 6 – 8. Steve rose to the top of a stacked, record-setting field of 66 entries and played heads-up with Roger Sippl to earn Super High Roller title and $1,872,580 in first-place prize money.

2015 PCA also saw a plenty of action at side events.Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel won $5,300 NLHE 8-Handed Turbo for $116,738 after a heads-up deal with Nick Maimone. Further, Paul Volpe won his third career side event on the European Poker Tour by winning #2,200 no-limit hold’em event. The tournament attracted a field of 217 and Volpe collected $89,140 after beating Brazil’s Joao Henrique Sousa heads-up. Justin Bonomo won a small-but-stacked field of 27 in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event. Given below are the notable side-event results from the 2015 PCA:
