Meanwhile, Tennis lovers saw the legendary player, Roger Federer winning his 1000th match.

The trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez brought a 3-1 win against the La Liga champion Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou stadium on Sunday. With this win, the four time world player of the year, Messi also discarded the speculations of his plans to quit Barcelona and join Chelsea. In the English Premier league, Chelsea registered 2-0 win against Newcastle on Saturday which made them the leader on the points table again with 49 points. Later that day, Manchester City who sits in the 2nd spot on the point table played 1-1 draw against Everton. Manchester United lost a crucial match against Saints 0-1 on Sunday hence, is holding on to 4th spot.

Cricket

Indian batsmen were able to defend the last test match on the final day thus finishing it in a draw. As a result, Australia won the 4-test match series, 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar trophy 2-0. Despite of some good batting performances, India couldn’t win even a single test on this tour. However, Team India would look to start afresh in the upcoming tri-series against Australia and England and clinch some wins before the 2015 World Cup. In the other part of the world, West Indies chased down a record total of 232 in the 2nd T20 match against South Africa at Wanderers. Faf du Plessis’ 119 off 56 balls helped South Africa score such a high total. Chris Gayle took the match by storm scoring 90 in a flash and getting 152 in partnership with Marlon Samuels. West Indies won the match 4 balls in advance.

Tennis

Indian tennis ace, Leander Paes along with South African partner Raven Klaasen lost the doubles finals of Chennai Open to Yen Hsun Lu and Jonathan Marray 6-3, 7-6 (4). Paes was gunning for the seventh title here but unfortunately ended up as the runner up. Five of his six previous title wins has come playing with Mahesh Bhupathi while the last one was with Janko Tipsarevic in 2012. On Sunday, Roger Federer reached a historic milestone by clinching his 100th match win in the Brisbane International Finals 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-4 over Milos Raonic. This was also his 83rd title win for the legendary tennis star.
