Anyang Xu leads the Main Event of APT Asian Poker Series, Day 1C today

APT Asian Poker Series Cebu, is half-way down at Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Lahug. After completion of 6 side events in the first three days, the PHP 46K Main Event kicked off at the All In Poker Sports Club on Friday, 30th January.

Day 1A saw 63 runners at the felt battling out to secure their seats for Day 2 of the Main Event. After 8 levels of play, only 28 players survived in the competition led by China’s Anyang Xu. Anyang flopped a set of Aces in the mid levels of day’s play which helped him double up and also climb to the top of chip counts. He is leading the Day 1A survivors with 85,275 chips closely followed by Fred Romeo of USA who hauled 83,500 chips by the end of Day 1A. Hideki Takafuji of Japan finished 3rd in the chip count after Day 1A with 79,675 and his fellow countryman Yoichi Uesugi is in the 4th position with 79,100 chips. Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (54,800), Singapore’s Norbet Koh (37,300) and Australia’s Bede Connelly (9,575) are the notable pros who advanced to Day 2.

Poker action returned on Saturday, 31st Jan for Day 1B of the Main Event of APT Asian Poker Series Cebu. The Korean poker player, Lim Jin Wook shot to the chip lead position with 58,500 chips by the end of day’s play. The native player, John Tech held the 2nd spot in chip counts with 57,500 chips while Singapore’s Bryan Huang is in 3rd with 49,750 chips. 29 players survived at the end of Day 1B which includes some of the notable pros as in three-time APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi (47,025), Norway’s Kai Paulsen (38,450) and the Canadian player Ryan Yu (28,900).

Anyang Xu is the overall chip leader with 85,275 chips after the 2 flights of Main Event. Day 2 of the Main Event scheduled on Monday, 2nd February will see 57 players coming in from Day 1A and Day 1B. More players will be joining them from Day 1C to be played today.

In the side events, Rundulf Martin Gonzales outplayed a field of 39 players in the Open Face Pineapple event taking home PHP 98,000.
