MPC23: Yue Feng Pan Slays the Dragon; James Chen wins the High Roller; More Final Tables by Indians

The 23rd edition of Macau Poker Cup finished off in style with 4,429 players across 17 events taking home HK$29,449,018 in prize money at the PokerStars LIVE, Macau. Yue Feng Pan of China won the 23rd Red Dragon trophy beating a field of 945 runners for a whopping top prize of HK$2,108,000. James Chen triumphed the HK$80,000 High Roller event for a sweet pay day of HK$1,704,000. Among the Indian contingents out there in Macau, Dhaval Mudgal, Kunal Patni and Anju Abrol made the maximum of last 3 days of the series bagging cashes and final table finishes.

Dhaval Mudgal finished 4th in the Event 13: $20,000 NLH bagging HK$335,200 while Kunal Patni won HK$71,200 finishing 11th in this event. Anju Abrol bagged HK$7,150 in the Event 14: $3,000 NLH finishing 12th. In the Event 17: $2,500 Deepstack NLH, Kunal reached yet another Final Table but got eliminated in the 7th place for HK$13,440.

MPC23 was a successful outing for Team India with 18 cashes including the Teams Event title win by Dhaval Mudgal and Akash Malik. Nikhil Maheswari’s run in the Main Event which came to an end in 15th place was another big moment to cheer for the Indian poker lovers. Team India brought home a total of HK$1,018,973 in prize money with one event trophy from MPC23. Adda52 Team Spades pro Kunal Patni made 4 times to the money-list of MPC23 while Team Thrill Pro Dhaval Mudgal was there in 3 events including his trophy win.

Red Dragon Main Event

Yue Feng Pan of China emerged victorious after 4 flight days and 3 days of further action in the Red Dragon Main Event of Macau Poker Cup 23. Pan beat Shao Po Liu heads-up to win the 8th Red Dragon title for his country and the top prize of HK $2,108,000. In the final hand played, Liu bet 375,000 from the button on a flop of c6s10h10 which Pan re-raised to 450,000. Liu 4-bet it to 1,625,000 to which Pan moved all-in. Liu called to showdown:

dq on the turn gave hopes to Liu but h6 on the river sealed the Red Dragon Title in the name of Yue Feng Pan. Shao Po Liu earned HK $1,239,520 for his efforts to the runner-up place.
