The 25th edition of Macau Poker Cup (MPC) is officially underway and you can feel the excitement and frenzy in the air at the PokerStars LIVE, a world famous poker room in the dream city of Macau. Macau Poker Cup brings the biggest poker extravaganza in Asian region, as it guarantees the massive prize pool money. After the grand DTP 2016, poker faces of India have started flying to Macau to hit the tables and play and win a massive HK$6,000,000 Guaranteed prize pool. MPC is hosting a variety of tournaments including, Bay Dragon, Megastck, $20,000 NLH, High Roller and many other events. Some events in the initial phase of MPC between September 26 to 31 are already over, while many still to go.
The MPC is turning out to be the biggest poker extravaganza and many players have already won big prizes. On August 28, China’s Xin Chen won the Kickoff event and Japan’s Takashi Shiono racked up the $2,500 Knockout tournament. On the same day, China’s Lijun Cai won the $500 Flipout event. But in the $2,500 Knockout, it was Japan’s Takashi Shiono who gave his opponents a tough time and finally emerged as the winner. This is just initial phase of Macau Poker Cup and the excitement is still growing, because the main events of the tournament are still to go on. Some of the major highlights of the upcoming events include $2,000 Deepstack PLO, Red Dragon and $1,500 NLH on August 29, Red Dragon Satellite and $3,000 (2nd event) on August 30. However, the biggest events of MPC include the following:
- Megastack 500K GTD from September.1-2
- HK$7,000 Baby Dragon1M GTD from September. 2-3
- $25,000 NLH from September. 3-4
- Red Dragon 6M GTD from September. 4-9
- HK$80,000 High Roller from September 4 to 9
With huge excitement all around, MPC 25 is turning out to be a feast for poker fans as well as players from all over the globe. Since the tournament has just begun, there are still hundreds of players to join the tables.
OPN spoke to Adda52 Pro Kunal Patni who said, “MPC is one of my favorite series in the Asian region. A main event with 1000 plus people is super value and I have usually run good in Macau. I am really looking forward to the series. Had a brick DPT, but been playing real good poker the last few months so I am charged up. I would be playing the main, baby dragon, 25k, 20k and a couple more side events.”
Talking about his plan for MPC 25, Ramesh Rao Thotapalli said, “Events are getting bigger and better. DPT has been fantastic. Adda has set a benchmark in the industry.
