After many back-to-back events at WSOP 2017, the focus now settles on the $10,000 Main Event No-Limit Hold’em Championship wherein a total of 7,221 players took to the tables across three starting flights ( Day 1A, 1B & IC), making it the third biggest Main Event in WSOP history and generating a massive $67,877,400 prize pool that will be divided up among the top 1,084 finishers. The ultimate champion of this event will walk away with a huge $8,150,000 in top prize money and all of the top nine finishers will cash for about $1 million for their efforts.
An impressive number of Indian players entered this Main Event, but only a few of them have made Day 2. Rahul Byrraju who entered the Day 1A bagged a massive stack of 186,100. Satchit Kapur too entered the first starting flight and claimed 99,000 in chips. Among other Indians who made it to Day 2 included Navkiran Singh (66,700), Akshit Madan (47,400) and Om Gahlot (29,900). The event also saw Adda52 Team Pro Nikita Luther and Muskan Sethi joining the action on Day 1B. Both of them incidentally managed to bag 30,000 each in chips.
Day 1A
After several exciting events and millions of dollars in prize money awarded, the 2017 World Series of Poker came down to its flagship Main Event, the Day 1A of which saw the biggest participation since 2013, attracting a total of 795 players. Morten Mortensen emerged as the chip lead in the 1A field with 279,000 chips. Other players with big stacks include Sam Grafton (231,600), Griffin Abel (226,000), Jonathan Little (210,300), and David Eldridge (207,000). One of the big stacks at the day end was Rahul Byrraju from India. He claimed 186,100 chips. India’s Satchit Kapur too entered the first starting flight and eventually managed to make day 2 with 99,000 in chips.
Day 1B
The Day 1B attracted a total of 2,164 entrants making it the biggest Day 1B field in the past six years and with that the Main Event field size grew to 2,959. Commanding the 1B field was Argentina’s Richard Dubini (254,500), who has over $1 million lifetime tournament winnings including a win in 2014 in the Brazilian Series Of Poker for $126,397. Other big stacks on Day 1B included Alan Schein (229,800), Brandon Meyers (215,700), Tobias Ziegler (215,300), Brandon Adams (205,000), and 2005 WSOP Main Event third-place finisher Tex Barch (200,000).
From Team India, Navkiran Singh managed to bag 66,700 and entered Day 2. Akshit Madan made Day 2 bagging 47,400, while the Adda52 Team Pro Nikita Luther and Muskan Sethi bagged 30,000 in chips each. Om Gahlot was the other Indian who made it to Day 2 with 29,900 in chips.
Day 1C
The WSOP Main Event closed the third and final starting day with 4,262 unique entrants for Day 1C, taking the combined field to 7,221 entrants and making it the third-largest Main Event field since 2010. About, 3,300 players survived the day with Jerome Brion leading with 248,000 in the bag. On Day 1C, several well-known players and pros joined the action, including Team PokerStars Pro Aditya Agarwal who will be chasing his 5th WSOP Main Event cash.
The play is scheduled to reach the final table on Day 7 (Monday, July 17). Days 8-10 will then resume and will be played on July 20-22 to reach a champion. Here is a look at the final table payouts:
