Mid – Major WPT Events in 2017 That Drew Top Names & Larger Prizes

One of world’s biggest brands- World Poker Tour hosted several events in the year 2017 ranging from mid to major tours in different parts of the globe. Given below are some of the most successful WPT poker events which drew massive turnouts and generated whopping prizepools:

1.WPTDeepStacks Brazil

In a country where people are crazy about poker, a high turnout was expected but not the way it came. In the first ever World Poker Tour event in Brazil, 3,386 entrants registered. The R$2 million (~$630,000) guarantee got easily crushed and went to over R$4.2 millions. The WPT is trying to expand its presence in the region and this type of field will really encourage more expansion.

The event was crowded by local players but Americans also made their presence felt. Former WPT Player of the Year Faraz Jaka made it to the final table, finishing 7th. Overall, the event proved a huge success, attracting a record participation with a good mix of poker pros and amateurs.

2.WPTDeepStacks Championship – Thunder Valley

The Thunder Valley casino in the USA is home for almost all prestigious poker events. The WPT is hosted there and the WSOP Circuit has also added a stop there. WPTDeepStacks often does well there but raised the bar in 2017. The $2,500 WPTDS Championship with $1 million guarantee attracted 501 players. It drew several renowned players, including the WPT Champions Club members JC Tran and Brian Altman. The final table had the Colossus winners- Ben Keeline and Cord Garcia. The event was a huge success and attracted impressive participation.

3.WPTDeepStacks India- Deltin Royale Goa

India’s largest and most luxurious floating casino – Deltin Royale, Goa that serves as the home to India’s premier Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) from time to time in a year played host to the inaugural WPT India Series from 7th November to 13th November this year. The series proved a grand success, attracting massive participation with over 1400 entries, including 527 entries in Main Event alone. It drew a large number of pros and players, generating a whopping prizepools across all events. Its Main Event alone created a massive INR 2,74,08,216 prizepool distributed among top 54 players.

While the series was dominated by local players, it also attracted some renowned international players including the likes of Bryan Huang, Pete Chen and Daniel Weinman who couldn’t win titles but made deep runs across various events.
