Aussie Millions 2018: Ben Lamb Takes Down $25,000 Challenge

The 2018 Aussie Millions that kicked off on 17th January has moved into its last phase. While several key events are already done and dusted, the series saw another big winner in Ben Lamb who took down Event #9 – the $25,000 Challenge for the first-place prize AUD 647,114 (INR 3.3 crore).lamb 2

Talking about his grand win, Lamb said, “Every time you win it’s fun, but six-handed tournaments are something that I really enjoy. I only play 15 tournaments a year. I enjoy them, but sometimes I think cash is more lucrative most of the time. I don’t think I’m going to change my tournament schedule too much .. but then again it was a lot of fun, so maybe I’ll try and add a few more in.”

The American has been playing live poker for over a decade and holds over $8 million in live poker winnings. A two-time WSOP Main Event final table finisher, Lamb reached heads up with German pro-Jan-Eric Schwippert who holds over $4 million in live poker tournament earnings.

Both of them dominated the play in this event and eventually reached heads-up where they quickly agreed to an ICM deal. On the final hand of the tournament, Lamb held Q-J and Schwippert had 10-4. On the board reading 2-9-3-3-7, Lamb’s queen-high sealed the deal and he took down the coveted title.
