‘Heads-up with Shravan Chhabria was pretty tough and I consider myself lucky’: Godfather Winner Chirag Sodha

On Thursday night, India’s largest poker site – Adda52.com hosted its signature online poker tournament – 20 Lac GTD Godfather 3.0 that had 50% TDS refund for all ITM players. Many pros, regulars, amateurs, and the past winners took part in the event and battled it hard for their share of INR 20 Lac prize pool and a coveted ticket to 6 Lac Barcelona SNG to be played on 1st July 2018.

After several hours of the fierce battles, it was Chirag Sodha aka ‘cs56’ from Bangalore, who came out on top after beating a very strong field of 367 entries and taking home an impressive INR 5,20,000 for his win. Top 27 players paid out in this tournament with a min-cash of INR 12,000.

Interesting Heads-up

In heads-up, Sodha faced the well-known Shravan Chhabria aka ‘sweatmyass13’ from Mumbai. Both players fought well with chips swinging back and forth. It was not an easy win for Sodha as Shravan battled it hard. At one point, it looked like Shravan would take it down, but it was not to be.

On the last hand of the tournament, the eventual winner ‘cs56’ holding Ad Jc decided to raise pre-flop and the online grinder ‘sweatmyass13’ having Kh Qd moved all-in, which ‘cs56’ called. The board ran 3d 3h 5s 4h 10s where Sodha won the pot with one pair to finally take down the event.

Sodha was very excited as additionally he won a ticket to 6 Lac Barcelona SNG to be played on 1st July. “It feels great. I’ve finished second in this event before and have been struggling with late-stage/ final table gameplay, but I am glad that I could convert yesterday”, said Sodha.

Talking about the field and his experience in this edition of Godfather  tournament, Sodha said, “Nowadays, the fields are relatively tough. The poker community as a whole has got so much better at the sport that is slowly being accepted and gaining recognition in the country.”

“Heads up was pretty tough and I consider myself lucky to have come out on top as Shravan Chhabria is a much much better player,” Sodha added.
