Kalyan Chakravarthy Ships Venetian DCPS 2018 Event #99 – $600 NLH Monster Stack $750,000 GTD

This summer, Indians are rocking not just at the 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) but also at the other prestigious poker tournaments taking place in Las Vegas. After our pros Harshil Dhingra and Kunal Patni cashing out at the 2018 WPT500 Las Vegas, it is now India’s ace player Kalyan Chakravarthy winning his largest live cash $147,233 (INR 1.01 Crore) at the 2018 DeepStack Championship Poker Series (DCPS) Event #99: $600 NLH Monster Stack hosted in The Venetian.

Chakravarthy, who earlier this year took down the 1 Crore GTD Adda52 Big Millions, defeated a massive field of 2,532 entries to win the $600 NLHE Monster Stack. The guarantee was easily crushed and a prize pool of $1,291,320 was collected, which was distributed to the top 279 players. Chakravarthy beat a tough field that included the 2002 WSOP ME champion Robert Varkonyi.

Chakravarthy was among 488 players moving into Day 2 of the event. He ran well and made it to Day 3. Moving into the final table, he gained a massive chip lead. The player finally reached heads-up with Hawaiian player Brandon Eisen, who ended up finishing runner-up for $146,219.

Post his win, Chakravarthy said, “It was a very good event with soft fields so I made a very good stack on Day 1 and entered with top few stacks like 2.5 times the average stack for day 2 and it was a great grind of 18 hours where most of the time I maintained chip lead and remained to be on top few stacks till the end.”

There are only a few Indians who have made a 6-figure cash in USD and Chakravarthy is now one of those few players. He also cashed for finishing 87th in the recent Wynn Summer Classic for $5,207. His previous best cash came in the Doupai Cup 2018 where he finished 2nd for HKD 599,600 ($76,680).
