The WSOP Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe has concluded with Scott Sanders taking down the main event title. The WSOP Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe Main Event drew a total of 442 entries to create the final prizepool of $669,630, which was shared by the top 45 players with min-cashes worth $3,027. After three days of the intense battles, it was Scott Sanders, a.k.a. “The Hamburger Man”, who outlasted the field to take down the top prize of $147,314 and his second gold ring of the series.
Before his Event #10: $1,700 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event win, Sanders first took down the Event #8 – Monster Stack of the series by beating 332 entrants. With his Monster Stack win payout ($25,201) and six-figure payday in the Main Main ($147,314), the 30-year-old Sanders from San Jose, California has banked nearly $175,000 in WSOP earnings during the Harveys Lake Tahoe Circuit poker series.
Final Day
It was Stephen Song, a former gold ring winner, who started as the chip leader among the final 4 players into Day 3. It was an action-packed Day 2 and there were 54 players to start the day, with those being the survivors from the two starting flights. Michael Hubbard was leading the remaining hopefuls. However, despite his initial chip advantage, the player finally exited the event in 8th place.
Song was followed by 3-time gold ring winner Brett Murray, who had 3.8 million in chips. Back in September, Murray had won the Main Event of the WSOP Circuit’s Thunder Valley stop. Scott Sanders, who entered the Main Event after a fresh off triumph in $400 Monster Stack at the series, had started Day 3 with 3.525 million. 2-time gold ring winner Nick Pupillo had 2.15 million chips.
Murray and Pupillo were striving for their second Main Event title. Both were in contention for the Casino Championship. However, Song ended up finishing 4th ($49,392) and Murray went out in 3rd ($66,521), leaving Nick Pupillo and Scott Sanders in heads-up play where the latter started as the massive chip lead with a stack of 11,900,000 (99 bb) chips against Pupillo’s 1,600,000 (13 bb) stack.
Pupillo fought it hard and even succeeded taking the lead after a couple of double-ups. However, Sanders came back strongly to regain the lead and eventually take down the coveted title. On the last hand, Pupillo opened to 300,000 and Sanders three-bets to 1,025,000. Pupillo snap-called. The flop came 9s 6d 5h and Sanders checked. Pupillo bets 800,000 and Sanders check-raised all in. Pupillo quickly called for his remaining 2,900,000. The turn and river were 7h and 6c. Pupillo had 10d 9h against Sanders’ 4h 3s, which gave him a straight to win the main event for his 2nd gold ring.
