APL Road Series Vol. 3: Korea’s Eunho Kwon Wins High Rollers; India’s Sumit Sapra Finishes 3rd

The 2018 Asia Poker League (APL) Road Series Vol. 3 hosted at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City is in books. While many Indians attended the series, Team India’s performance was headlined by Abhishek Paul who scooped 2 notable scores. He won the Hyper Turbo Event for VND 34 Million (INR 1.05 Lac) and made a deep run in the VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event with a 27th place finish (VND 53,470,000 – INR 1,61,712). Finally, the ace player Sumit Sapra closed out the series in style with a remarkable 3r-place finish in the High Roller for VND 849,230,000 (~INR 25,65,728).

Shipping the High Rollers event was Korea’s Eunho Kwon who defeated 141 runners to win VND 699,250,000 (INR 21,16,323) after making a 3-way deal with Sapra and Tanaka Masatoshi.

Sapra is a very active player and takes part in all popular events happening in the Asian region. This year, the player has notched up over a dozen of cashes and some notables among these include his 2nd place finish at WPT Vietnam Welcome Event for $ 7,045, 15th place finish at APL Vietnam High Roller (#Event 12) for $ 2,683, and a 15th place finish at Doupai Cup Main Event in Macau for $ 8,249, which was then followed by a 32nd place in the APPT Macau Main Event for $ 10,708. The player secured his best live just last year when he finished 4th in the WPT India High Roller for $ 17,708.

Another notable Indian-origin player who attended the series was Dhanesh Chainani. He finished 12th in the KO Bounty 2 for VND 11,150,000 (INR 33,721). The biggest headline of the series was undoubtedly Quang Nguyen who took down the coveted Main Event title for VND 1,61,87,50,000.
