Rajeev Kanjani Finishes 8th At PPWC Main Event, Richard Marquez Leads Remaining 6

The PPPoker World Championship (PPWC) Main Event has reached its grand finale! Among the 16 players who started Day 3 yesterday was Rajeev Kanjani, the sole Indian who had progressed to Day 3. Kanjani stacked up nicely on Day 3 and reached the final table. He was doing well at the FT but his good run ended when he was eliminated in 8th place for PHP 446,200 (INR 6.10 Lac).

Kanjani was one of six Indians who made it to Day 2 of the main event and they included Abhinav Iyer, Kalyan Chakravarthy, Aditya Sushant, Kanjani, Rishab Jain and Jasven Saigal. Kanjani ran deeper and made Day 3 among these Indians, while Sushant (17th for INR 2.12 Lac), Iyer (34th for INR 1.16 Lac) and Chakravarthy (57th for INR 1.08 Lac) finished in the money. Unfortunately for the rest of two other Indians Saigal and Jain, they exited the tournament empty-handed without cashing.

Kanjani had entered Day 3 with a solid stack of 516,000. He got off to a decent start and eliminated Jeffrey Pamplona in 15th place. Later, he stacked up nicely getting a good double up and taking his stack to around 1.2 million. Following Denis Cheremisins exit in 10th place, he eventually reached the final table where he met Seo Dongkyoon whose As Qs beat Kanjani’s Qc Jc. Kanjani was busted in 8th place. Thereafter, Markus Garberg followed him going out in 7th place for PHP 660,000.

Out of 16 players who had started Day 3, there are only 6 players remaining to battle it out for the top prize of PHP 4,850,000 (~INR 66.34 Lac). Leading them is the Filipino pro Richard Marquez who has bagged a massive stack of 2,795,000.Though Marquez is the biggest stack, it is not going to be an easy battle for him as he will face stiff competition from the WSOP bracelet winner Mike Takayama (2,670,000), Mark Gruendemann (2,480,000) and Filipino star Lester Edoc (1,505,000).
