2019 APT Vietnam ME: Han Leads At Day 2 End; Manoj Pentakota & Rubin Labroo Progress

While majority of our Indian players are busy chasing the first bracelet at this year’s WSOP, some of our country’s challengers are competing at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam, which has returned for its second stop this year at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chih Minh city. The biggest highlight of the series is its VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event where the field has narrowed down to just 63 players.

As many as 204 players had returned for Day 2 play of the Main Event yesterday and the field came down to just 63 players by the end of the day’s play. From Team India, 6 players were the part of the field. Among them, only two Indians – Manoj Pentakota (413,000) and Rubin Labroo (203,500) managed to advance to Day 3, the rest of the 4 players exited the tournament empty-handed.

Among the 63 survivors, it was Malaysia’s Lee Boon Han who bagged the chip lead with 431k chips. India’s Pentakota was not far behind the chip leader as he bagged a stack of 413,000 in chips. Late registration for the event closed an hour after play began yesterday. Another 56 players paid the VND 22,000,000 buy-in and it took the total field to 458 entries, thus crushing the guarantee and creating VND 8,885,200,000 in prizepool (INR 2.61 Crores), which is to be shared by top 46 players.

Both Indians have bagged decent stacks and will be eyeing the top prize of VND 1,892,170,000 (~INR 55.71 Lac). While Petakota’s resume boasts numerous cashes on the Asian circuit, Labroo is in good form and he had earlier finished third in the Monster Stack event of the ongoing APT series.
