China’s Zhihao Zhang Takes Down The 2019 Red Dragon Jeju Main Event

After 4 days of action, the ₩2.5M Red Dragon Main Event at the 2019 PokerStars LIVE Asia, Jeju is in the history books. The marquee tournament attracted a record-breaking field of 869 entries and generated ₩1,896,592,500 (INR 11.66 Cr.) prize pool, which was eventually shared by the top 108 players. Topping the field was China’s Zhihao Zhang who defeated Taiwan’s Ting Yi Tsai in heads-up and pocketed a whopping ₩345,370,000 (INR 2.12 Cr.) in the top prize following a heads-up deal.

The final table saw 9 players entering with Zhang beginning it with a massive chip lead. It was smooth sailing for Zhang, who played really well and went on to eliminate the likes of Zhenhua Lu and Xin He to eventually reach heads-up with Ting Yi Tsai. The heads-up did not last long and was over in just seven minutes. The final hand of the dual saw Zhang holding 9h 8d and Ting Yi Tsai with Kc Jc. The board ran out Jd 7h 3c 10d 4h where Zhang hit a straight to win the coveted title.
