Michael Trivett Takes Down WSOPC Planet Hollywood Main Event For $215,943

The latest World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) main event has crowned a champion in Michael Trivett who beat a field of 778 total entries in the $1,700 buy-in NLH Main Event at the WSOPC Planet Hollywood series, taking home $215,943 in the top prizemoney and his first WSOPC gold ring. This win was his biggest score and it took his live tournaments earnings to a massive $393,925.

After his grand win, Trivett said, “It feels amazing. I’ve been dreaming of winning one of these for a while, so it feels amazing. I don’t even think I know what’s going on right now. My first win, my first six-figure score also. Everything just feels amazing.I’m just overwhelmed with emotions right now.”

The 36-year-old Trivett entered the final day of this event with the third largest stack among the 16 players remaining. By the time the 9-handed final table was set, he climbed into second place behind only Tzu Huang who further extended his lead by eliminating Ben Palmer in ninth place.

Trivett scored his first knockout of the final table with pocket aces. He faced a shove from Rubin Chappell who held K-Q, which failed to beat pocket Aces and Chappell eliminated in eighth place. The next eliminations from the FT came in Ryan Leng (seventh) and Jorge Arriola (sixth). Arriola ran his pocket nines into pocket queens of Huang whose hand held up and Arriola was busted.

Exiting in fifth place was Casey Stewart whose 10s 9s failed to beat Trivett’s Ks Qs. Trivett made a full house by the river to score his second FT elimination in Stewart who hit the rail in fifth place. Going out in fourth place was Zachary Donovan and he was eliminated by Jim Petzing (A2) who found an Ace on the board to beat pocket queens of Donovan. The next major showdown saw the remaining three players get their chips in pre-flop, with Petzing holding Ah As, Huang Ad Kd and Trivett Jh Jd. Trivett had both of his opponent’s covered and the board came down 7428Q where Petzing’s aces held up and Huang was eliminated in the third place ($98,912).

The heads-up began with Trivett holding the chip lead against Petzing. Trivett was able to quickly expand his lead and eventually stretch his advantage to 9:1 by the time the final hand arose. Trivett picked up 9c 9s and limped in. Petzing moved all-in for around 3 million with his 3h 3d. Trivett called and the board ran out 10c 7s 5h 4h Kd, giving the coveted pot and the title to Trivett.
