2020 WSOP Online: Ajay Chabra Wins Event #72 To Claim His Career-First Bracelet

On Tuesday, Indo- American pro Ajay Chabra entered the 2020 WSOP Online Event #72: $1,500 Limit Hold’em Championship with 11 cashes already at the series with four of those being top-ten finishes. Chabra made it to the top ten yet again, and this time he managed to convert his deep run into a win by taking down Event#72 to claim his first gold bracelet, a $77,475 and the WSOP Europe package.

Chabra has over $1.3 million in tournament earnings as per The Hendon Mob. And on Tuesday night, he added $77,475 by winning Event #72: $1,500 Limit Hold’em Championship, taking his earnings to the $200k-mark in the ongoing WSOP Online Series. Finishing runner-up to him was Canada’s Swidler who has cashed for at least nine times but this is his biggest result so far.

Other notables ending their run at the final table of the event were Japan’s Kosei Ichinose (4th for $35,483), Canada’s Mike Watson (5th for $26,069), and two US players in Rich “DadPoker” Dixon (8th for $10,338), & Shannon “Any2Cantu” Shorr who exited the tournament in 9th place for $7,595.

After the elimination of Russia’s Apti “deafandblind” Dzhabrailov in 3rd place, the heads-up took place between the eventual champ Chabra and Canada’s Swidler. Chabra began heads up with a 2-to-1 chip lead over Swidler. However, Swidler won a big pot early to take over the lead. After some back and forth action, Chabra took a nearly 3-to-1 chip lead after winning a big pot with a full house.

The final hand saw Swidler with 2h 2s and Chabra with Ks Qh. The board ran 10h 8c 5s Qd 5c. While the flop kept Swidler ahead, the turn gave Chabra the lead and the river sealed the win for him.

The event drew 337 runners, generating a prize pool of $480,225. The top 47 places got paid, and some notables among them included Arkadiy “Kamsky” Tsinis (13th for $6,434), Anson “Tara@0z” Tsang (16th for $5,449), Dan “oiltrader” Shak (18th for $4,616), Joseph “jellopy77” Cheong (21st for $4,616), Alek “astazz” Stasiak (39th for $3,312) and Luke Schwartz who finished 43rd for $3,312.
