The player who eventually claimed the biggest title was ‘autobot93’ who won the 2 Crore GTD AOPS Main Event for a mouth-watering INR 50 Lac in top prizemoney. He outlasted a large field of 1,937 entries, including online reg Sanket Jain aka ‘cowboy12’ who banked INR 26 Lac as the runner-up.
Apart from tournament winnings that players took away in the 62 scheduled events, there was additional motivation for players to perform consistently throughout the series. This was the AOPS Leaderboard that awarded 15 Lac in prizes to the top 10 most consistent players during the series.
Saurabh Arora aka ‘newkidintown’ from Delhi ended-up as the most consistent player of the series. His amazing run saw him conquer the AOPS Leaderboard and he was rewarded with 5 Lac prize for his phenomenal consistency. While winning big events is always something we dream of, the true sign of a good poker player is consistency. Constantly working hard on the game, making the right decisions and maintaining a positive and productive state of mind are a few must-have qualities that define such a player. The pride and satisfaction that comes along with it is surely incomparable.
Winning the AOPS Leaderboard was absolutely awesome for Arora. He is primarily a PLO cash game player but due to the lockdown there is more spare time and he is playing more tourneys these days. This was the first time he played for such a long leaderboard and is very happy to eventually win it.
About Arora and His Journey Towards AOPS Leaderboard Win!
Arora did electronic and communication engineering in 2011 from NSIT, Delhi. Then, he went on to work as a consultant for an MNC and was based out of London for 5 years. He used to play a lot of card games but picked up poker in one of the casinos in London and he was immediately hooked to the game. His father, grandfather and everyone in his family have a thing for card games, so it runs in their blood. He used to play on international poker sites initially and then got to know about Adda52 through a friend and started playing here. He has been playing the game for more than 5 years now.
No stranger to success on the virtual felts, Arora has been a very consistent player and has already won several marquee events including Mega Suits and several other Adda52 tourneys. He delivered incredible performances at the recent AOPS. He won the AOPS AfterParty DST, made multiple runner-up finishes in AOPS Brunch, and posted multiple FT scores in AOPS Dusk and AOPS CrackJack, apart from final-tabling AOPS AfterParty PLO, AOPS Panjim, Full House, AOPS Sinquerim, etc.
Arora started the AOPS in top 5 on the leaderboard and was in top 2 right from Day 2 itself, so he had his eyes on top spot from the very beginning. On his way to the leaderboard win, he final-tabled a lot of tourneys throughout the AOPS. On the first Sunday, he final-tabled the Full House and one more event, which took him to the top spot on the leaderboard. After that, there was no looking back and he just maintained the lead all the way to eventually end up as the leaderboard winner.
Close Competitors For The AOPS Leadereboard
It was a close competition between Arora and the AOPS Colva winner Raghav ‘Raghavv’ Siddalinga, both of whom were in spectacular form throughout the leaderboard race. Siddalinga was playing really well. However, Arora took the lead on the 4th or 5th Day and remained on top till the end but Siddalinga fought well and always kept Arora on his toes. Siddalinga eventually ended up as the runner-up on the leaderboard and walked away with 3 Lac prize for his stellar run and consistency.
