WPT Online Series: Luke Martinelli & Charlie Carrel Among Prominent Winners

The inaugural WPT Online Series is well underway at partypoker and will now continue till the end of the month as per the latest announcement made by the marquee online festival organizers. The response from players for the flagship series has been huge with big numbers attracted since its start a week ago. The last few days have been incredible and have seen the crowning of so many winners. Among the prominent names who grabbed spotlight are Luke Martinelli (won Event #19 $530 Turbo on Saturday) and Charlie Carrel (won Event #14 $25,500 Super High Roller on Friday).

Luke Martinelli outlasted 254 entries in Event #19 ($530 Turbo) to bank $25,895. Finishing runner-up was Freek Scholten ($18,796), while Norbert Szecsi took home $13,398.50 for finishing third.

A total of $127,000 was amassed for the prizepool via the 254 entries. Among other notables who finished deep were Norbert Szecsi (3rd for $13,398 and Jimi Koponen (4th for $9,906).

Mohamed Bachir Andolssi banked $8,652.15 for winning Event #19 Mini ($55 Turbo).

Charlie Carrel Wins WPT Online Event #14 $25,500 Super High Roller

Poker phenom Charlie Carrel, who won the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker Main Event for $1.2 million around three years ago, hit headlines for winning the Event #14 $25,500 Super High Roller for $600,250 on Friday. He outlasted 98 entries, including a strong final table that had Arsenii Karmatckii, Chris Hunichen, and eventual runner-up Ali Imsirovic. Elias Talvitie finished third for $306,250, while runner-up Imsirovic earned $428,750, out of the total $2,450,000 prizepool.

Another tournament to conclude on Friday was Event #13 ($2,650 Six Max NLHE) that drew 293 runners. In the end, it was Daniel Reijmer who shipped the tourney for $167,137. The runner-up was Ole Schemion who took home $111,706, while Julien Perouse finished third for $80,575.

Aleksejs Ponakovs banked $54,225.52 for taking down Event #13 Mini ($265 Six Max NLHE). Chad Eveslage emerged victorious after outlasting a total field of 251 entries in Event #17 ($530 Six Max Hyper Knockout). Eveslage banked an impressive $11,027 along with $13,101.59 in bounties. The eventual runner-up Ihar Soika won $11,015 and an additional prize money of $6,820 in bounties.

Among other winners, Agustin Amestoy outlasted 841 entries in Event #17 Mini ($55 Six Max Hyper Knockout) to bank the lion’s share of the $42,050 prizepool worth $2,876, plus $2,538.06 in bounties.
