SCOOP: Newcomer b@d0s & Clark Hamagami Win PKO Titles On Final Day!

As players have seen, the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has been at the forefront of the poker world’s attention. Considered as the mainstay of PokerStars May schedule, the series was initially planned for 20 days this year with $85 million GTD prizepool. Looking at the overwhelming initial response, the organizers then extended the series until May 31 and added 132 events. The extension saw the prizepool reach a record $135 million, making it the biggest online festival!.

The marquee series saw several big names like Matthias Eibinger, Ole Schemion, Dominik Nitsche, Patrick Leonard, and Connor Drinan all earning SCOOP title. The final day saw twelve events reach their conclusion, ending the series that awarded over $185,000,000 in prizemoney.

Connor Drinan was the biggest story of the series as he won an incredible five titles at the series, surpassing the previous record of four titles held by Shaun Deeb. Portugal’s Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira claimed the SCOOP 2020 Player of the Series title. Ferreira scored plenty of cashes, including nine final tables. He led the leaderboard from start to finish. While 2019 champ Konstantin “krakukra” Maslak was within striking distance, Ferreira closed it out for a bonus of $50,000 and the trophy.

SCOOP-121-H $1,050 NLHE [8-Max, PKO], $1.5M Gtd

Event #121-H: $1,050 NLHE Progressive KO 8-Max was one of the closing events at the series and it was taken down by ‘b@d0s’ from Barbados who outlasted ‘AtanasPPP’ (runner-up for $166K) to claim $271K in top prize. It was not an easy win for ‘b@d0s’ as he had to navigate through a large field of 2,439 entries that generated $2,439,000 in prizepool, which was shared by top 351 finishers.

The field was replete with so many big names with the most popular name among them being  Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. Playing under the username ‘neymar-jr,’ he ran deep in the event, finishing 121st for $1,865 in prize money and an additional $1,250 coming through bounties.

The $109 buy-in NLHE Progressive KO 8-Max Sunday Million SE logged in a field of 30,809 entries to generate a prize pool of$3.08 Million. Coming out on top was Clark ‘snake8484’ Hamagami from Canada, who defeated Finland’s ‘TruePrayer’ in heads-up to earn $197K ($153,744 and $43,073 in bounties). The latter banked $137K ($109,575 and an additional $27,186 from bounties).

Another player picking up a SCOOP title on the final day was Brazil’s Joao Simao who outlasted 418 runners, including Simao beat Steve O’Dwyer heads-up to win Event #120 High:$2,100 NLHE Sunday Warm-Up SE for $150,546. Steve O’Dwyer earned $112,819 for his runner-up. Job ‘DeadNylan’ Grebe took to the final podium, finishing third for $84,546 from $836,000 prizepool collected via 418 entries.

Norway’s ‘Kjeppen‘ won Event #119 High: $530 NLHE PKO that drew a total of 1,174 entries and generated $587,000 prizepool. He claimed $39,529 plus $40,683 from bounties for the win. Falling one spot short of the title was ‘neverfoldQ5‘ who settled for a $39,529 and another $6,955 in bounties .

The last Pot Limit Omaha title of 2020 SCOOP went to ‘jokkee_apart’ from Norway. The eventual winner topped 265-entry field in Event #122 High:$2,100 Six Max PLO to bank a $101,164 payday from $530k prizepool. Austria’s ‘rObetOblancO’ ended up as runner-up for $74,986 prizemoney.
