2020 WSOP Online: “PokeThese” Takes Down Event #2 For $168K; Negreanu Finishes 18th

Thursday saw the second tournament of the first-ever 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online series, Event #2: $1,000 No-Limit Hold ’em 8-Handed Deepstack. Pulling an impressive field of 919 entries, the event generated a prize pool of $873,050. The lion’s share of the prizepool went to “PokeThese” who secured the WSOP gold bracelet and the top prizemoney of $168,585.95. The official results will be released later on Friday, at which time the winner’s name will be revealed.

When the final table play started, “PokeThese” held the second-largest stack. He played really well to chip-up nicely to eventually enter the heads-up play with over 80% of the chips against “KOVID19” who fought hard but could not go all the way, eventually finishing runner-up for for $104,242.17.

On the final hand, KOVID19″ shoved all in for 2,246,570 and “PokeThese” called. The board ran out 5d 4s 10h 2d 8d and “PokeThese” claimed the coveted Gold bracelet and top prize of $168,585!

Matthew “Mendey” Mendez (14th – $7,333.62), WSOP bracelet winner Michael “itwasthator0” Gagliano (13th – $7,333.62), & Josh “YoelRomero” King (9th – $11,960.78) were notables to run deep.

Also going deep in the tournament was six-time WSOP bracelet winner and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel “dnegs” Negreanu who was looking to capture his 7th gold bracelet. Unfortunately for him, he exited in 18th for $5,849 after running pocket nines into the tens of Matthew “Mendey” Mendez.

Bubbling the tournament was “MBEASY” who exited in 144th place. After that, eliminations were quick and among notables to cash the tournament were the likes of David “Twizzler” Prociak (128th – $1,484.18), Katie “katelin” Lindsay (122nd – $1,571.49), Ryan “protential” Laplante (106th – $1,571.49), Mike “THICC” Delvecchio (79th – $2,008.01), Jared “DarrensRabbi” Jaffee (56th – $2,444.54).
