The competition is heating up at the ongoing 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online. The series is witnessing impressive participation with players joining in the action from all over the world. The series awarded yet another bracelet on Wednesday after South Africa’s Michael ‘YesPlease’ Clacher outlasted a field of 1,342 runners in Event #36 $1.5K Fifty Stack NLHE to capture his first WSOP gold bracelet and a $297,496 payday. He became the third South African player to claim the gold bracelet.
Indians have been big fans of WSOP and the participation from the country has been increasing especially since the past few years. To the delight of Indian poker community, three Indians (Aditya Sushant, Nikita Luther & Abhinav Iyer) have already won a gold bracelet for India over the last three years. There is a good number of players playing the 2020 WSOP Online and getting Team India its first FT score at the series was Neel ‘Neel’ Joshi who finished sixth in Event# 36 for $59,878.
Final Table Action
Clacher began the final table trailing only Olivier ‘BigPapyBoss’ Rebello in chips. Not long after the final table began, Jose ‘Machenzzio’ Davilla’s pocket fours lost to chip leader Olivier ‘BigPapyBoss’ Rebello’s Aces. Following him were Viktor ‘Ryuzaki1’ Zsemlye and Rich ‘DadPoker’ Dixon in eighth and seventh places. The next to fall was India’s Neel ‘Neel’ Joshi whose J-10 lost to Rebello’s pocket jacks.
Eliminations continued and it came down to three-handed action. Clacher picked up his first elimination during the three-handed play. He moved all in for 19,115,720 with 5c 5s and Rebello called for 13,944,804 holding Ad Jd. The board ran Qh 10c 2s 5h Ac. While the river paired Rebello but it was not good to save him and he exited in third place, leaving Clacher and Caprioli in heads-up.
The heads-up battle began with Clacher having a slight lead over his opponent. The two players battled it for about 12 minutes before Clacher ended things with a win. Caprioli raised to 2,000,000 and Clacher called. The flop opened 9c 5h 4s and both players checked. The turn was the 10c and Clacher check-called Caprioli’s bet of 2,883,200. The river was the Qc and Clacher fired 1,250,000. Caprioli moved all in for 12,087,996 and Clacher called. Caprioli showed 8d 7d, while Clacher turned Qd 4d for top and bottom pair to eliminate Caprioli in second place and win his first career bracelet.
The tourney generated an $1,912,350 prize pool that was shared by top 188 players. partypoker Team Pro Jeff ‘muitoforte’ Gross (32nd for $6,347), Liv Boeree (82nd for $4,382), Philip ‘Respect!’ Long (90th for $4,382), Steve O’ Dwyer (99th for $4,382), Manig Loeser (140th for $3,819), Andrew Neeme (153rd for $3,328), and Kahle Burns (177th for $3,328) were some prominent ITM finishers.
