For Doddanavar, 2019 was a break-out year as the UK-based player came close to claiming his first live title in the PHP 107,500 High Rollers 2 at the 2019 APT Philippines in May, finishing runner-up for PHP 1,225,000 (INR 16.34 Lac). The same year, he also made his maiden trip to the 50th annual WSOP, where he posted a total of four scores for a cumulative $40,273 (INR 28.52 Lac). After cashes in live tournaments in Vietnam, Korea, Manila and Las Vegas where he earned in excess of $100K in prize money, he then joined the 2019 WPT India in Goa where he went on to win the 100K High Roller, bagging not just his first live title but also his first ever cash in a live tournament in India.

About Doddanavar’s WPT India High Roller Win

It was truly a hard-earned win for Doddanavar as he had to put up a great fight to best a tough field in the high roller that saw some of the best players from across the country and had even a few international players including Taiwan’s Kuang Hung Lee (finished 3rd for a prize of INR 12.84 Lac).

The final day of the High Roller started with 48 survivors led by Armaan Kochhar (165,500). Doddanavar had started the day with a modest stack of 40,500, but steadily built his stack to reach the final table placed second in chips holding 1,070,000. At the FT, he eliminated the likes of Manish Gandhi, Abhishek Rathod, and Aditya G in heads-up to finally get his hands on the WPT trophy.

Doddanavar’s Experience Pays Off In The End!

After Kuang Hung Lee’s elimination in third place, the heads-up between Aditya G. (25.90 Million) and Yasheel Doddanavar (24.90 Million) began with the former being slightly ahead. However, Doddanavar being more experienced, with a plenty of international scores to his name, brought all his skill and knowledge to play, eventually snatching the title from Aditya. In the final hand, both players had their chips in the middle pre-flop with Doddanavar being ahead with Ah 5h against Aditya G’s Qc 10c. The board ran Kd 3c 9s 4s 5s, giving Doddanavar a pair of fives to win the title.
