Thursday Majors: Kanchan Sharma Denies Sreekanth Narayan Godfather Title; Garg Wins Monster Turbo

It was a blockbuster Thursday on the virtual felts. While there were plenty of exciting tournaments on Thursday’s slate, headlining the day’s action on was the 25 Lac GTD Godfather. Running as part of the “Suit-Up January” promotion, the INR 5500 buy-in tourney attracted 471 entries, and outlasting them all was Kanchan “thandicoke” Sharma, who had won several big-ticket tournaments in 2020 on Adda52, including Maverick and Big Slick. She eventually struck a heads-up deal with Sreekanth “n0thing” Narayan (runner-up for INR 4.69 Lac) to win INR 5.05 Lac in the top prize. Veteran pro, Raman “thuscame” Gujral cashed out in third and won INR 2.50 Lac.

Sharma is a consistent online scorer. Last night’s Godfather win happens to be her first flagship tourney title of 2021 on Adda52. With the win, she crossed the 2 Crore-mark in recorded earnings.

Kishor “kishorvc” Kumar (4th for INR 1,87,500), Attman “att1992” Pradipbhai Velani (5th for INR 1,25,000), Romit “ft83” Advani (6th for INR 87,500), Ram “mowgumotu” Kakkar (7th for 68,750) & Ritwik “ritwik27” Khanna (8th for INR 56,250) were the other notables who final-tabled the tourney.

5 Lac GTD Monster Turbo

The other major tourney in “Suit-Up January” last night, the 5 Lac GTD Monster 5L, registered a total of 188 entries by the time late registration closed. In the end, it was this month’s Iron Man runner-up Ayush “lazyman” Garg who came out on top to win INR 1,38,750 and his first flagship tourney title of 2021 on Adda52. Prabhat “nagarbhavininja” Mukherjea finished runner-up for INR 84,000.
