Running from 16th to 18th June, Event #34: $1,500 Freezeout No-Limit Holdem of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2022 saw Justin Pechie overcoming a stacked 1,774-player field to grab the lion’s share of the $2,368,290 prize pool worth $364,899. This was Pechie’s second bracelet. He claimed his first bracelet in 2011 when he shipped the WSOP Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold ’em Shootout.

Pechie entered the final day with the third-highest stack among 10 finalists and slowly made his way to the top. He topped a tough final table featuring the two former WSOP bracelet winners, Steve Zolotow and Jeremy Wien. He began the FT in a thundering fashion by knocking out two players (Dwayne Sullivan -9th) and (Jeremy Wien -8th) on the same hand. He entered the heads-up with 31,175,000 chips over Samuel Bifarella’s 13,050,000 chips. Both players battled it back and forth, with Pechie never losing his lead. It all ended with Bifarella, with king-deuce, was all in on the flop and Pechie quickly called with five-six for two pair, which was enough for him to seal the title.
Team India
From Team India, there were two former bracelet winners cashing among the 266 players in this event, namely Abhinav Iyer and Kartik Ved. Ved exited on Day 1, finishing 263rd for $2,407 – his first cash at this year’s WSOP. Iyer made it to Day 2 with a stack of 200,000 among the 158 survivors but could not advance much further and finished 134th for $3,217, his third cash at the WSOP 2022.
