Austria’s Jessica Teusl claimed her first bracelet in the 2022 WSOP Event #61: $1k Ladies NLHE Championship, winning a career high $166,975. She overcame topped a 1,074-entry field, including Julie Le in heads-up. The latter collected $103,196 for her deep finish. This was her fifth live title, which took his live earnings to $497,553. The win marked her fourth cash at the WSOP 2022 with her best cash coming two weeks ago when she finished 8th in Event #21: $1,500 Monster Stack for $120k.
“I’m feeling so happy. I have such a crazy time at the WSOP this year! I got my biggest live cash at the Monster Stack, and now I win a bracelet. And on top of that, my boyfriend, Stefan Lehner, also won a bracelet (Event #16: $3,000 NLHE) right when I was on the final table myself two weeks ago.” she said.
Teusl started the FT as a short stack but did well by busting last five players. “I started the day with only nine big blinds and it was a crazy story for me. I kept winning pots and falling short again and then we were seven left, six, five, and it became so real. I start to think the chance of winning is now alive. I know everything could change really fast and I’m very grateful that luck was also on my side.”
After busting Christina Gollins in third place, Teusl entered the heads-up with a massive chip lead of 16,650,000 chips over Julie Le (4,800,000). While Le battled it hard and was able to take the lead briefly, Teusl regained the lead and eventually shipped the title. On the final hand, she moved all-in with A-3 and Le called with Q-3. The board ran 10-J-2-5-K where Teusl locked up her first bracelet win.
India’s Sonam Jain Finishes 125th
The $1,000 buy-in event collected a $955,860 prize pool and paid out 162 places with a min-cash of $1,600. Many notable crossed the money line including India’s Sonam Jain who placed 125th for $1,750, picking up her first WSOP cash.
