APT VSOP 2022: India’s Jude Praveen Kumar Wins Event #8 For VND 98.19 Million & His First APT Trophy

Team India is killing it on the live felts in Vietnam. Keeping the team’s dominant run at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Summer Festival Hanoi 2022 – Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP) was Jude Praveen Kumar, a relatively lesser-known player who overcame a field of 57 players in Event #8: Super Deep Stack Turbo to earn his first-ever APT trophy and VND 98.19 Million (INR 3.34 Lac) in prize money.

Nguyen Gia Trung aka Daniel Nguyen finished runner-up and banked VND 65.47 Million ($2,791).

This was the first live title and second cash for Praveen Kumar. His first cash came in the 2018 WPT India Main Event where he had finished 15th for INR 4.38 Lac, which remain his best finish. Another Indian to cash Event #8 was Ankit Wadhawan who finished 10th for VND 8.53 Million (INR 28,992).

The heads-up was a neck-to-neck affair between Kumar and Nguyen Gia Trung aka Daniel Nguyen. While both players were fought well, it was Kumar who shipped the title. On the final hand, Kumar held Ad 2s and Nguyen had Ks 8c. The board opened 5s 10c 3c Ah Jc, giving the title to Kumar.
