The Sunday night on India’s largest poker site – Adda52.com saw two popular events – 10 Lac GTD Sunday Suits and 20 Lac GTD Adda52 Millions taking place. While many players fared well across these events, headlining the action was Abhinav Iyer aka ‘checkshove’, who took down Adda52 Millions for INR 7.5 Lac in prizemoney. Mumbai pro-Shravan Chhabria aka ‘sweatmyass13’ continued his good run and won Sunday Suits, taking home INR 2.7 Lac after beating a strong 284-field.
Adda52 Millions
The biggest event on Sunday was Adda52 Millions with INR 7.5 Lac for 1st place. The event kicked off at 8 PM and lasted for over 8 hours. After the fierce battles of several hours, it was the young gun Abhinav Iyer aka ‘checkshove’, who emerged victorious after beating a tough field of 163 entries. Iyer has already notched up several decent scores across several prestigious online tournaments on adda52.com. He grabbed eyeballs for his final table finish in the Big Millions in March 2018.
Iyer defeated a tough field that included several well-known pros, regulars, and the past champions. He did not get off to a good start, but then he went on to win some decent pots to chip up nicely and never looked back again. Moving into the heads-up play with ‘SIDDHU24’, he had a 2:1 chip deficit, but he played very aggressively and slowly built a good lead over his opponent.
The last hand of the tournament came with blinds running 20K-40K where Iyer raised pre-flop with Ac-Qd and the online player ‘siddhu24’ holding Qc-4d moved all-in, which Iyer snap-called. The board ran 9h Qh 7h Js 9c where Iyer took down the pot and the coveted event with two pairs.
Post his win, Iyer said, “It feels good to finally win and close the Adda52 Millions after final-tabling it a few times! The field in this event was tough in the beginning and the middle stages.”
Talking about his journey this tournament, he said, “It was pretty smooth despite not getting off to the best start! I got into the zone and chipped up well. I never looked back and ran good at the end to close it. Heads up, I started with a 2:1 deficit. I started to play much more aggressively as I didn’t have much to lose. I slowly built a good lead and won the last flip!”
Sunday Suits
The second biggest event on Sunday was 10 Lac GTD Sunday Suits, which wrapped up successfully drawing 284 entries. Outlasting the field this time was the well-known Shravan Chhabria aka ‘sweatmyass13’, who defeated the online player ‘shapoor’ in heads-up to win the event for a cool INR 2.7 Lac. A total of 18 places were paid out in this event with a min-cash of INR 10,000.
Of late, Chhabria has been enjoying a crazy run on the online felts. Before this, he won The Roar and Godfather 3.0 tourneys, and this past week he managed a 2nd place finish in Godfather 3.0. His win in Sunday Suits gave him enough points to climb-up the coveted 15 Lac Crazy Leaderboard – IV where he currently sits on 5th place with 685 leaderboard points.
Talking about his win Chhabria said, “Well, it definitely feels great to ship Sunday Suits. I was nursing a 15-20BB stack for the longest time around and in the Money. The structure was good and gave me time to grind it out and build my stack again. Once I managed to do that, I did not look back.”
When asked about his current form and run, he said, “Well, it has been a fantastic month with several huge scores. Last week, I won The Roar and Godfather, and this week I have managed a 2nd place finish in Godfather. So all-in-all, it has been an amazing month for me. I’m grateful and humbled by this amazing run going on.”
