The 2013 WSOP Europe came to an end yesterday in Paris as 19 year old Adrian Mateos won the Main Event for €1 Million. Earlier Daniel Negreanu had won the High Roller Event after ganering enough points to win the WSOP Player of the Year award for 2013.
The young Spaniard Mateos defeated local favorite Fabrice Soulier in a five hour long heads up battle. The first exit of the day was Benny Spindler who in attempting a bluff lost out his healthy stack to Jeremy Huge. Ravi Raghavan was the next to hit the rail when he flopped a royal flush draw against Mateos’ double pair. Next casualty was Jeremy Huge who like Spindler got stuck in a bad bluff against all the remaining players.
In three handed play, Dominik Nitsche also depleted his stack while trying to bluff. Six hands later he exit the field paving way for a long and aggressive heads up battle. Earlier Daniel Negreanu had won his sixth WSOP Bracelet by winning the High Roller Event of the WSOP Europe defeating Nicolau Villa-Lobos. This combined with his award of WSOP POY add up to the perfect ending for this years poker action for ‘kid poker‘.
