Macau has been the epicenter of poker action in Asia since years with non-stop action and huge tournaments. With Season 9 of Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) starting today, the excitement will outpace all previous records at the ‘PokerStars LIVE Macau’ in City of Dreams.
Macau has been special for Indian players in 2015 with several cash-finishes in Macau Poker Cup 22 back in March. Indians have fetched a few remarkable winnings and finishes in Macau which includes ACOP Spadie won by Adda52 Team Spades pro Kunal Patni and runner-up finish by Abhishek Goindi in the Red Dragon event in 2012.
As confirmed till today, 3 Indian players – Kunal Patni, Rajeev Raut and Krishna have reached Macau to play the APPT tournament this season. Kunal And Rajeev had a brilliant run in Macau in their previous outings and were all pumped up before leaving for Macau to clinch APPT titles this time. Before leaving Kunal said, “Macau has always been good to me. I have had some decent runs in Macau and I’m hoping it would be the same this time. I haven’t played live poker for a while now and I feel quite fresh going to Macau. It’s one hectic schedule for me now with APPT immediately followed by a 40-day tour to Vegas for WSOP. Hoping to bring glory for Team Spades.”
The 12-day long poker fiesta brings a roster of 13 Official Asia Player of the Year events. The action kicks off today with the HKD $1,500 Deepstack event and the satellites to the Main Event running all throughout the week. The opening week will bring HK $1,500 KO Bounty event, HK $3,000 NLH, HK $15,000 NLH, HK $5,000 PLO and HK $1,000 APPT Macau Warm-up event which comes with a HK$1 million prize pool guarantee.
The HK $25,000 Main event begins on 27th May and will run for 5 days crowning the winner on 31st May. The Main Event winner will be awarded the HKD $100,000 entry to 2015 ACOP Main Event alongwith the top cash prize. Meanwhile, the players with high stake appetite can vie in the HK $50,000 Freezeout and HK $100,000 High Roller events.
