APT Asian Poker Series Manila 2015: Kunal Patni Finishes 9th in the Opening Event

Adda52 Team Spades pro Kunal Patni continued his good run from Manila Megastack III where he made runner-up finish in the ₱50,000 Side Event last week into the APT Asian Series Manila 2015. The Indian pro made yet another final table in the opening event – APT-RWM PHP2,000,000 Guaranteed finishing 9th at the Resort World Manila. This came as his 9th Final Table appearance in the Asian circuit after he won ACOP Spadie in October 2014.

Kunal’s consistent performance has landed him into the Top 20 players on the Asia Player of the Year Leaderboard. The banker turned poker pro is the only Indian in the top 20 spots of the APOY rankings of PokerStars LIVE Macau.

Event 1: APT-RWM P2,000,000 Guaranteed

The opening event of APT Asian Series Manila 2015 saw 281 players coming in the 2 flights on Tuesday, 29th September. After 2 days of grueling battle of cards, it was Iori Yogo of Japan taking down the title with PHP 673,200 in top prize. Sam Razavi who tops the APT Player of the Year rankings finished 19th in this event.

Iori YogoKunal Patni and Dhaval Mudgal were the 2 Indian challengers playing this event. Dhaval busted the flight battle on the opening day while Kunal made it to the Day 2 with a stack of 134400 chips. On Day 2 Kunal made it to the money and secured a seat on the final table later. He started short with 15 bb stack on the final table and lost two consecutive hands K10 < AQ and then 44 < A7. Finally, he finished in the 9th place of this event which can be termed as a fantastic start for him as well as Team India in the APT Asian Series Manila 2015.

Event 2: Ante Up for Charity

42 players registered for the PhP 7,500 Charity event and Christopher Mateo of Philippines won the title bagging PHP 84,000 in top prize. Moreover, PHP 105,000 (one-third of the prize pool) will be donated to the Feed a Child, Build a Nation School Feeding Program by the Rotary Club of Makati North.

Event 3: NLH Multi Re-Buy + 1 Add-On

94 players turned up for the PHP 3,300 buy-in NLH event and with 78 re-buys and 59 add-ons, a prize pool of PHP 672,200 was accumulated. 8 players remained at the end of day’s play led by Cuong Nguyen (252,000) of USA. The game resumes today at the Resort World Manila to crown the champion who will take home PHP 183,000.

Event 4: High Rollers

PHP 4,365,000 prize pool was set in the High Roller event of APT with 45 players putting PhP 108,000 on Day 1. Dhaval Mudgal played this event but couldn’t survive the Day 1. 6 out of 10 players making to the Day 2 will be earning money in this event with a huge amount of PHP 1,528,000 going to the champion.
