APT Manila: Tan Zai Zheng leads into Day 2, Srinivas Polyshetty leads Team India

The Asian Poker Tour(APT) Manila brought some thrilling poker experiences on its tables last week at Resorts World Manila . Leading the action were Feng Zhao and Rosemarie Villamar accompanied by Tan Tai Zheng who leads the Main Event leaderboard with 166,500 chips.

In other events at APT Manila the Head Hunter event saw Gerard Bringley eliminate a large pool of players single handedly to win the trophy and PHP 522,500 in cash with lots of bounties falling into his bag. In the Ladies of Poker event, Rosemarie Villamar of Philippines emerged out on the top of 31 players and took home ₱78,400 in cash with the trophy which she missed out twice in the past. She struggled for long in the heads up round with Lorna Williams but finally managed to turn theapt-asian-series-manila-logo-1024x465 table around in last minutes.

Continuing his good hands at High Rollers event, Feng Zhao cruised to win the title with a Full House in last hand and added ₱1,474,000 to his earnings. With this title win, the “Harry Potter of Poker” as nicknamed in Singapore has overtaken Samad Razavi for the top spot in the APT Player of the Year 2014 leaderboards.

4th day of the APT Manila marked the grand opening of the ₱46,000 Main Event with 156 players starting on Day 1a. Tan Tai Zheng (166,500 chips) from Singapore led the pool of 61 players who made it to the Main Event’s Day 2 with 166,500 chips. Meanwhile, Kai Paulsen won No Limit Hold’em event which saw 102 entries and grabbed a whopping cash prize of ₱379,000.

There were 210 entries on the Day 1b of the Main Event out of which 85 survived to enter the Day 2 of Main Event. Dhanesh Chainani from Singapore ruled Day 1b of the Main Event after amassing a total of 164,300 chips at the close of day.

Eventually, poker tactics will intensify on the tables of Resorts World Manila in remaining 3 days of the tournament as 146 players will try sailing across to the Main Event title. Meanwhile, the Indian poker player Srinivas Polishetty will continue his hunt for the Main Event title with 49,100 chips. At the time of going to press, only 67 runners remain out of the starting 366.
